Improve Your WiFi Access Point Performance

There are lot of ways to get a faster your wireless connection in your office or your home. From the most extreme one is knocking down all your walls so your wifi signal can be broadcasted efficiently until buy the newest hardware with high specification but with more expensive cost.

But I think you do not have to knocking down all your walls or buy the most expensive device but you get the same result like browsing slowing to a crawl and the inability to stream. So, on this post I'm trying to help to give a few solution for your weak signal problems.

1. Wrong Location
If your wireless router or access point is located in your desk or below your desk, you have to move it into higher place at least 1,5 meters above the ground for better signal coverage. Because wifi signal broadcasted in radius waves. So, if you wish your wifi access point can be accessed by all users, you have to move it to the center of your place. Also, if your wifi router or access point is placed on your roof, you have to make sure that its antennas are pointing down.

2. Too Many Connected Devices
More connected devices, so more bandwidth usage on your wireless router or access point which is decreasing your own bandwidth. So, I'm suggesting to change your wireless signal protocol into 802.11n or change 802.11ac which is the newest technology and has bigger bandwidth (900Mbps).

3. Physical Obstacles
Walls, TV, cupboard, tables, chair, microwave and all physical things are the physical obstacles and reducing the wireless signals from your wireles router. So, you can try to make sure that your access point is far from those things expecially microwave. Because microwave has waves radiation which interrupt your wifi signal quality.

4. Overlap Wireless Channel
Choosing the best Wi-Fi channel on your router helps to reduce interference and improve your WI-Fi signal.Wi-Fi channels overlap with nearby channels. Channels 1, 6, and 11 are the most frequently used for 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. These three channels are the only ones that don’t overlap with each other. If your wifi channel is set on overlap channel, it will be problem if there are many devices are connected to your wifi and your connection will so crowded with low connection quality.

So, you could choose your wireless environment by using the wireless signal inspector in software or hardware. I'm suggesting to use software version like inSSIDer which is known as a reliable wireless signal inspector.

5. Updated Firmware
You may to check your firmware version and may be the wireless vendor has released the latest firmware version which fix the previous bugs. Because bugs in your wireless router may be have a bad impact in your connection quality.
