DNS (Domain Name System), is a system to translate IP number into readable address e.g. www.revo-brain.com. Because it would be hard for human if they have to remember a numeric address instead alphabetic address.

For example:
http://www.revo-brain.com has IP address : 74.125.68.121. Which is more easily remembered? Imagine if you have to remember 202.152.130.30 instead of google.com, 31.13.90.2 instead of facebook.com and many other websites.

That's why DNS is one of most important in Internet Network and we call it as our Phone Book for Internet.
